Donnie Willow are uncompromising when it comes to effort. The three-piece alt-rock outfit from Glasgow played an absolute blinder, warming up an already raucous crowd gathering to see Toy Mountains in Nice N Sleazy. Frontman Arthur is at ease while he reigns it in before belting it out at full volume, showing a vocal control that many singers would die to possess. Baby-faced bassist Sam Peppiette swigs bucky between tracks alluding to his darker side which also manifests in bass tones that sends tremors through your soul. On drums we have Peter Bunting who, in the near future, will be taking the place of Matt Cowie on drums for tonight’s headliners. I hope this isn’t the end of the line for Peter in Donnie Willow as he has shown tonight that he is more than just a cog in the Donnie Willow wheel.
